Introducing Helios View in Artemis

Artemis 8.6.0 adds Helios View, a live sun tracker that traces the sun's path right over your camera view so you can plan exactly where the light will fall on your shoot day.

A location scout wants to know where the light will be at 7pm three weeks from now. Helios View puts the answer on screen, traced over the real view in front of them.

Point the camera and Helios draws the sun’s arc across your live image, following your GPS location’s local time so the results hold up anywhere in the world. Scrub through the day, jump to your shoot date, and watch the light move where it will actually fall.

What shipped

Accurate anywhere. The sun path follows your GPS location’s local time, so it reads correctly wherever the shoot is. The image above was captured at sea off Hawaii.
Sun path over your live view. The sun’s arc is traced directly onto the camera image, so you can see exactly where the light will land instead of guessing from a map.

Vertical time slider. Scrub through the day and watch the sun travel its arc. Drag up for earlier, down for later, with the time read out as you go.
Jump to any date. Scout how the light will look on your shoot day, weeks ahead, before anyone’s on location.
